Sanded floor boards in Kitchen?

1930's Semi
I am going to sand the floor boards for the whole of the downstairs ( insulating with rock woll underneath via crawl spaces / cellar).

The question I have is, how will sanded floorboards last in a kitchen?
I was hoping to sand and lightly varnish to keep them looking light coloured/swedish inspired.

Has anyone got this in their kitchen?
OR am I best of tiling for hard wearing etc.

Cheers

I'm thinking of all the things that can get spilt on a kitchen floor. I reckon it needs to be completely washable TBH.

We have them. They were sanded and stained and seem as tough as old boots. I just wash them with a mop and think no more about them.
They are about 3 years in and might need a restain soon, though we will probably never get around to it and they will continue to wear in a shabby chic type styleeee.

Didn't do the whole insulating thing though - I salute you!

Cheers TreeDelivery, any chance of a photo to see how it looks after 3yrs?
The insulation is probably the easiest thing to do and quite cheap.
Though a bit dirty being under the floors...
