would pale grey paint be too dark for small darkish terrace house?

i am sick of cream and assume that the DCs would trash white walls, so thought about pale grey (this is for hall, stairs, landing and living room).
has anyone used pale grey in a small house successfully?
or would you say avoid and just go for white?
i want something that is warm and bright, but neutral if possible

thanks in advance for any advice!

Pale grey would be lovely IMO. WHite is harsh and shows the dirt.

But pale grey isnt usually a warm colour, try and warm taupe if thats what you are after.

Agree that a warmer taupe/grey would be better, but am always a bit worried about using grey in a room which doesn't get much sun. We have Elephant's Breath in our hall which is north facing and whilst it's smart it doesn't make you want to linger!

If you do go for grey, make sure your woodwork and ceiling are a crisp white to keep it all sharp, and use some strong accent colours to keep it lively.

Yes, I think it would be nice - as long as it isn't too 'flinty' a grey - it may look cold.

I ;plan to paint our kitchen a soft grey to go with the new white doors we will be getting at some point.

Yes I'd go for a warm grey, not too dark.

You could try Skimming Stone which is a beige/grey colour (nicer than it sounds)

Go for white woodwork and white ceilings and if you have a picture rail, paint white above it (unless the ceilings are low). Basically the more white you have around, the more you can get away with slightly darker colours like grey on the walls.

I love pale grey and use it everywhere Smile. Because our rooms are small, we've gone for F&B strong white, which is a very pale grey but still shows up as grey against contrasting white woodwork. Cornforth white is a warmer pale grey.
