Primaries in Walthamstow, Leyton and Leytonstone

I've posted this in Primary Education but had no replies, so posting here as it's about moving house and I know there are a number of MNers from the area.

We are looking to move to one of the above areas, ideally Walthamstow, and would appreciate people's experiences of particular primary schools in the area as ds will be starting in Sept 2013.

I know Henry Maynard is a very popular school in Walthamstow, but property close-by is too expensive for us, I think. I've heard a lot of good things about Greenleaf as well. I'm particularly curious about Barclay Primary in Leyton and Woodside and The Winns Primaries in Walthamstow as I don't know anyone who goes there. There's very little property for sale at the moment and we may have to widen our search area so I'd welcome opinions on any schools in these three places.

I've been reading Ofsted reports but I know enough to take them with a pinch of salt. I think a parent's viewpoint is far more revealing. (Also, if anyone fancies selling us a 3 bedroom house near a nice school, do let me know!!)

i know someome looking to sell their place opposite henry maynard if you want to message me. not sure of timings tho. you will need your address by december for the january deadline or you will not have a choice! i am not convinced that there is a massive difference between the primaries really. hillyfield is not on your list but gets a good rep but is very big. also the houses around that area tend to be smaller/2bed places. stoneydown & mission grove maybe worth a look amd area quite nice to live in with good transport. all places struggling with extra form entry and no space like lots of london. maybe you could rent to try it out and see if you like it before buying? good luck

My friend works in a v good primary in Leytonstone, but not sure of name. I can ask her. Our infant school is OFTSED good and the juniors is outstanding. Lovely, mixed area on Wanstead flats doorsetp. Look at Capel Road and roads off it - E7. Bit cheaper than some other areas, but lovely and leafy plus 10 mins to Liverpool St on overground train. Secondaries not great tho so will be another move later on...v loathe to move as love this area though.

I live in Walthamstow, and have a two-year-old DS, so this is top of my mind too! It seems that pretty much every primary in the area is 'good' or 'outstanding', with varying levels of ESOL, etc. I'd love him to go to Henry Maynard, but is has a catchment area of about three inches, so he'll probably end up at Edinburgh, which is apparently good too. It's tripled in size recently, so any Ofsted reports are out of date.

St Mary's CofE in the village is supposed to be good, too, but you won't get in if you're not Goddy, which we're most definitely not!
