Do I need to undercoat everything again when reglossing? :S

Planning on decorating the living room this weekend, the gloss has really held up well and is still really white after almost 3 years(!), but has a few wear and tear marks so could do with redoing. Do I need to undercoat it all again, or risk it being yellow in a few months? [lazy]

Well according to my mother then yes. However, i quite often miss the undercoat out, and don;t tell her and i've never had a problem.

If anyone ever tells her this, i will deny all knowledge Wink

I'm telling! Wink

Hmm... might just do a sugar soap wash and go for gold. I need to get it done ASAP, don't know if I can deal with having to undercoat AND gloss all the woodwork... bloody hate decorating Envy

May just mention to my BIL who lives around the corner that I'm going to regloss without undercoating, he'll be round with his tin of undercoat before I manage to say I'm joking Grin

i don't think you need to undercoat if the paint is in fairly good condition. but make sure you sand lightly to provide a key for the new paint to 'grab' or it may not wear well.

I would only undercoat directly on wood. Give it a bit of a sand and maybe a bit if filler if there's a big chip and away you go! Good luck, I hate painting with gloss.
