The kinetico softener is quiet and unobtrusive.

Hi - anyone fitted a watersoftener yet following this yet? If so what make did you go for? My builder seems to have a preference for some outrageously expensive one that costs about a grand - one of his main arguments is you can use block salt (easier) rather than having to fill from a sack. Would rather save £4/500 and use a jug/sack - I think it may be the Kinetico one - I really would rather have something cheaper if possible.

Please can anyone recommend a make? Random are you still happy with yours?

Thank you

I'm sure I could put blocks into the salt bin of mine, if I didn't mind paying the extra.

25kg sack for £7.99

or 10kg bag for £4.99

or 8kg block for £6.99

OOI, what do other people pay?

PigletJohn · 07/01/2013 20:18

or 3kg for £1.80

Oh...maybe that wasn't why he liked it then...maybe he just likes spending my money Grin...is there a good brand/make out there at a reasonable price? We have a megaflow system if it matters

Our Kinetico one is being installed next week. Yes, it will cost £1k but I like the fact that it has no moving parts so can't/shouldn't break down, I can take it with me if I move...hmmm, can't remember other reasons. Our water (Chilterns) is so ridiculously hard (as in I love staying with my friend in London as the water seems so soft there in comparison) that I wanted something robust. We're just going to go for a normal tap so all water in the house (other than outside tap) will be softened. Several of my neighbours also have Kinetico so the salt price is reduced as one of them gets a bulk delivery and looks after it and you can just go & collect from them as & when you need it.

If you don't mind me asking is that £1k all in - installation and vat or just the price of the unit?

Hi,

So dragging this old thread back. Any recommendations/feedback from those of you who installed a water softener after this thread?

We have this one www.eastmidlandswater.com/Details.asp?ProductID=87 and it works well and isn't too noisy. I currently use the dishwasher salt 3kg bags from Sainsburys for convenience at around £2.20 a bag.
Got ours from this company too and I was v impressed with them. if you have any questions they are happy to advise.
