so those of you who don't do feature walls, how is your bedroom decorated?

i need some inspiration. we have an oatmeal-coloured carpet, and a black iron bedstead, both of which are staying put. everything else is up for grabs.

toying with this paper for a feature wall....

we can't do a dado rail as we have a picture rail, so i think that would be a bit much on the rail front.

I might just sod it and paint the lot in Rice Cake, and then think about how to inject some colour once we've lived with it for a bit.

the room was previously covered in a thick anaglypta paper, which was painted a dark brick red, so i am craving some lightness.

We haven't got a feature wall. Walls are light bluey grey, bed is darker bluey grey, bedside tables and cushions and throw and armchair are pale bluey grey (can you spot the theme Grin). we have white bedlinen and woodwork/wardrobes. as curtains we have or will when I finally get round to it a grey/blue linen roman blind and off white voile curtains over the top.

Very restful as it's all shades of the same colour, and a very calm colour at that. Some might say it's bland but I really like it Smile.

Another idea for the wallpaper - why not frame it in panels and use it like pictures?

Not a cheap option but what about doing your curtains in that print? here

CharlotteBronteSaurus · 18/04/2012 16:08

wow, sundae, i like that idea.
and it is really quite a small window....

They'd be v gorgeous curtains and you could use an inexpensive paint.

Nice idea to have plain walls and use the print in fabric rather than paper.
Roman blinds would make it even more affordable and IMO look lovely too - you need much less fabric for roman blinds than you would for full length curtains.

yy to the curtain idea.

We are doing roman blind in pricey fabric and then sheer linen voile floor length curtains over the top. Much cheaper than full curtains in pricey fabric, and feels a bit more generous than just a roman blind.
