Bed/Bedroom arrangement for preteen/teen. Ideas?

DD (19) is moving out soon so DS1(11) is inheriting her larger (but not enormous) room, imagine small double room -it was the master bedroom before we extended.

I am planning to do it up over the summer as he starts seniors this year. I am struggling with bed/ furniture combinations. Ideally I want it to last until he moves on too. It has mirror fronted ikea wardrobes so clothes storage not an issue. I need ideas for the following:
Bed
Sofa/pullout bed
Desk (i like the idea of him being able to study/do homework but in reality it is done in the dining room where I can keep an eye on things, so maybe not essential. Also DD had one but used it as a dumping ground.)
Book storage
Toy storage (until he grows out of toys) we will be having a big cull though Grin

I have been looking at the Stompa ranges but can't seem to find the right combi. Like most 11yr old boys he likes xbox and watching films and often has friends over, at the moment they sit on the bed using it like a sofa so I can't see him being happy with a high sleeper (poor view of telly). My DD had a high sleeper with chair and desk under it many moons ago and never used it as intended so I am wary of making an expensive mistake.

Ideally I think he would like a sitting room he can sleep in rather than a bedroom he can sit in iyswim.

He also wants a camoflage design but I can see him hating this by the time he is 15. Would you stick with neutral (but boring)?

Somwhere for a friend to sleepover is important.

TIA

My ds (13) has the Hemnes day bed from Ikea in his room, which he uses as a sofa during the day. It's a very comfortable bed too. It pulls out to make a double, but if he's having a sleepover he just puts the bottom mattress on the floor. I have put (rubbish) pic on my profile.

He has a desk in there and some books, but most are in another room, their den iyswim, which is where they also have x-box, wii etc and big bean bags.

He has an aquarium in his room. Not my cup of tea, but he loves it!

Thanks jasper. That's a good idea, I didn't know you could get beds that turn into doubles.

Beanbags another good idea.

You could always just get some camo netting for his room which can come down when he gets bored/grows out of it.

No help re furniture I'm afraid.

My Dss are younger (7 and 4) but I think the Hemnes daybedd looks like a good option.
It looks quite masculine and is flexible for sleepovers or for a guest bed.

I'd be tempted to paint the walls a neutral colour, maybe a drak grey like F&B Charleston Grey which is a gret foil for pics/posters, and find him some camouflage bedlinen.
How about IKEA Expedit with black boxes for storage, as this can be used until he leaves home (and then re-used elsewhere).
Some nice ideas here from the Chez Larsson blog (uber organised swedish women blogger with a teenage son)

Oooh thanks, like that blog. Some nice ideas. I do like the sound of a day bed.

Pascha- camo netting sounds a good compromise, will look into it.

Thanks for your ideas.
