We have just got rid of our horrific 70's fireplace and replacing with a wood burning stove and exposed oak beam above. I want white built in shelves in the alcove. All looking good so far! However, I am totally at a loss with paint colour :-( We painted everywhere magnolia when we moved in just to brighten it all up. The rest of the room is fairly neutral - beige sofa and then a burnt orange/deep red/gold type 'theme' done with accessories (probably looks better that I describe it!)

I'm wanting to keep the colour scheme similar with the orange stuff but I'm at a loss with paint!! I actually really like the magnolia, fresh clean etc but is it all abit boring now?? So I have been looking at other warm cream colours. Been looking at Farrow and Ball 'House White' (but comes up a little bit colder - maybe more a greeny tinge if you get me?) and 'Farrows Cream' which i really like - comes up as a deep cream. But then I'm getting cold feet and thinking 'sod it, lets just do magnolia again! especially when I saw the price of F+B paint!!! Its quite creamy and I am panicking that I'll but all the paint and regret it once its on the walls. I've had other tester pots from B&Q and Wickes (including the chalky range of the latter shop) but nothing so far has come up (I did have to restrict how may tester pots I can afford!).

My this is a long post about cream paint! If you have got this far then thank you!!! So anyone got 'Farrows Cream' or recommendations for other nice creams or thoughts on magnolia! Not one of lives great problems I grant you, but i just can't decide!

Room is bright and sunny by the way (south facing) and am in a traditional terrace house circa1900.

Thanks

I have used Farrows Cream before - It looked a lot more yellow on my wall than I was expecting!

I have also used Pale Hound which is fab but not what you are looking for . . kind of greeny-yellow. F&B does leave gorgeous chalky finish IMO.

I am poorer these days and have just done a whole room in B&Q Beige White due to indecision - so I am not really any help!

I have F&B House White in our house, is a nice clean pale yellow really, is lovely and v gorgeous on a sunny day. Looks yellower on walls than on colour chart, and is not at all cold.

Crown "Soft Linen" is a lovely clean-looking cream (not beigey like many of them).
