I have noticed a few posts about it and am wondering what it is like in the flesh, as I've not seen it, and how it compares to solid/engineered wood floors, quality, look and cost? We have quite a large area to floor, hallway, and two reception rooms. Also the flooring needs to be toddler-proof and tough. Who is a decent supplier? Thanks so much Smile

We had bamboo laid about 6 years ago in hall and our living room. I chose it because I didn't want laminate but other forms of wooden flooring were too expensive. I think that I bought the bamboo from 'Just Bamboo' and our builder laid it.

It has worn well. It has got some scratches and has faded under the door mat. It is a pale yellowy- gold colour. I would recommend it.

My kitchen floor has the natural strand woven sort - I'd never have thought of it but someone on here recommended it and it's fabulous. We had the Bamboo Flooring Company but I dare say they're all much of a muchness. I got lots of samples and tried scratching them - the strand woven was the best and the natural is a beautiful warm but not-dark colour.

I have bamboo in my hallway and front room, laid about 6 years ago, and it's not looking good. Sad I think it was fairly cheap though so I'm sure that it's a case of you get what you pay for.

Ours came in planks like laminate and has water damage by the front door and at the end of the hall where we had a washing machine flood. It has also scratched really badly where any furniture has been on it.

I do love the look of it but would try and avoid the cheap stuff in future.

We have it in every room except for the kitchen and utility.

Upstairs it is in perfect condition - downstairs in is scratched in places (BogDog's very hard claws)
I don't mind the scratches as I think it is a floor so it was never going to stay perfect.
It's very easy to maintain/clean. In the bathroom it has stood up to splashing and doesn't show any signs of water damage.
