What do you need to look out for when buying radiators.

Any experience of those long thin ones?

Long thin ones? As in something more decorative?

Firstly work out the BTU requirements of the room, this will tell you how much your room needs to keep it warm. Sorry I can't remember the calc for it but if you google it I'm sure you can find it.

Then knowing your BTUs you can see the suitability and it will depend on the size and material ect. Acova make some really lovely ones.

Hope that helped

it's worth remembering that big tall radiators are very fashionable at the moment. Time was that laminated flooring was very fashionable. Before that it was Artex ceilings, and before that stone-cladding.

There's nothing so hideous as something that has fallen out of fashion.

I dont agree that the tall ones are very fashionable, though they are more popluar than they were.
I think they are great in olf houses where you have high ceilings, tall windows and few places to site a radiator.
I use the Acova column radiators, from B&Q when they are running a promotion and they are pretty good. They do some tall designs too, eg

We have tall thin ones. Sure, they save on wall space, but I'm not sure how efficient they are given that heat rises and much of the radiator is high up to start with Confused.
