Please help with storage solution

I've been googling until my fingers bleed but I just can't find this - and would really appreciate some help! This is: Tall white storage unit, to go in the dining room (in alcove) but to store toys/arts & crafts things/jigsaws etc. Would ideally like cubes. Some open, some with drawers. Quite tall so DCs can't reach everything all the time. I can find the IKEA one with 16 cubes but its all open. Or some which have some open and some with doors but they're about 8 cubes and not quite enough. Need something quite tall and big, but not much wider than a metre/metre and a half. Would also like it look quite nice so it's not out of place in the dining room. Any ideas?

The IKEA Expedit unit has doors and drawers which you can use with it, you need to order them as extras on the website or in store.

It is often recommneded on Mumsnet! I am about to order a couple to use for books and toys, with drawers and baskets to make them look a bit neater.

And if you want extra height you can always buy a small unit and put it under the standard one and fix them together, liek this

Panna beat me to it :)

We did this in the play room and it was great, but we used the deep (40cm) Billie shelves, it worked brilliantly.

These are what are in the St Mary's children's ward playroom.

As in the ones Pannacotta linked to.

I've used those drawers/cupboard doors on Expedit and my only reservation about them is that because you essentially need to have a 'box within a box' you end up with much less storage space than if you just used the units themselves. The drawers are tiny and can fit hardly anything in them.

It's not quite as smart, but if you bought something like this to insert, you'd be able to store much more stuff in each cube. And they're a lot cheaper than the drawers/cupboard doors.

You could also nail on a backing board to save dropped things.
