Can you just use normal white gloss paint? Or is there some specialist paint, and if so, is it better?

Any advice welcome for a painting and decorating virgin!

Thanks

Not sure about the gloss but I used satin wood paint (it said on the tin that it was ok for metal) it looks lovely even if I do say so myself Grin

yes, satinwood is better. Gloss tends to look dirty or shabby, and emulsion get dust stuck to it.

Another vote for satinwood. It gives a good finish and smells less than most gloss paints.

i hate white radiators, i really don't want to make a feature of them so i always paint them the same colour as the wall - makes them much less noticeable. obviously using the same paint as the walls so my radiators are all painted with matt emulsion.

i haven't had any problems at all (i always use a good primer) and haven't had any issues with dust sticking to them.

ohoh, to paint radiators you should buy specific radiator paint, as one of my (many!)brothers told me "paint companies don"t invest lots of money developing a specific type paint cos they have excess money" available most diy outlets, ,local, if you have one,"Screwfix" are a very good bet

My husband's a painter & decorator and he recommends eggshell (whatever that is :)) He reckons that if you go and buy specific radiator paint what you'll actually be getting is eggshell anyway
