Trying to buy: My HA are going to give me a nervous breakdown

I have been hesitating about moaning on here as I know I'm extremely fortunate to have a HA Flat (London, key worker etc). However, my HA finally have me at breaking point...

They have been talking about bringing in a scheme to help tennants get on the housing ladder if they give up their tennancy. I found out about this and DH and I got v excited and started looking at houses. They kept promising the scheme would be finalised next day/week/month, so DH and I took a risk and made an offer on a house (with HA's blessing). Now things are going through with the sale but every time I talk to the HA they keep putting me off for another few days. They are driving me crazy, it is so frustrating and I'm starting to worry we're going to loose the house and be stuck in a tiny damp flat forever through their complete lack of organisation :-(

No, its a new scheme to buy on the open market. they would give us some money towards our deposit on the condition that we give up our current tenancy (thereby creating a vacant home for another family).we don't have the right to buy the home we actually live in, property around here is ridiculously ex pensive so we are relocating.

This makes it so much more com plaited as I have managed to find the dds a lovely new childminder and even a pre school place near our new home but obviously we haven't moved yet and so I am hoping to have to pay to keep the cm places for them and try to persuade the pre school to keep Dd1s place for her.

TheHA promised me it would all be sorted by december 2011 .grr.

THanks custy, that link was interesting. I did not realise the social home buy scheme was offered by other housing associations too.

The EA called today to let me know the vendors are keven to exchange (by the end of this month at the latest). I was feeling ballsy so rang the lady at my HA.It seems the hold up is getting the scheme approved by the office of fair trading. It has gone all the way through their process and is now with one of the directors. I am praying this means it will happen this week. I really don't want to mess our vendors around or lose this house.

My stomach is in knots!

3.15pm and I can't believe I am still waiting for them to put me out of my misery. Has anybody else been through the ordeal of buying with a HA?

Another day and I still can't believe I don't have an answer. I have sent the EA an email explaining the situation and asking her to beg the vendors to give us until the end of Feb to exchange. I have also emailed the OFT explaining that my whole life is in their hands. Now I am turning to Wine and trying to convince myself not to worry abvout the things I can't control Sad
