Can I paint the side of the fridge with blackboard paint?

We have an old fridge and I'd like to paint one side with blackboard paint to use as a drawing/notes space. Can I use just normal blackboard paint?

Sand lightly and apply a coat of metal primer. Then you can use ordinary blackboard paint. You will probably need 2 coats.

And use a small roller ie a radiator roller, so that you don't get any brushmarks.

I wonder if a whiteboard marker would work on the enamel (assuming you have a white fridge)?

that link says use coarse sandpaper, but I'm sure very fine would be better. You want to take the gloss off the enamel, not go through to the steel and make it rust.

Wet-and-dry silicone carbide 600 grade as sold in Halfords for touching up car panels would I think be very suitable.

Wow thank you! I absolutely love that fridge, looked up on green paint, etc and it is available, only to show it to dh and he refuses, says that it will make the kitchen look a lot smaller and that the fridge will be a lot less efficient if painted dark, what a spoilssports.
So I've bought an adhesive sheet from amazon, green.
I still think that fridge does look stunning.

stick on sheets sound easier, whenever i've used blackboard paint it's looked really crap

This is probably stating the bleedin' obvious, but I'll say it anyway: if you're going to have a massive blackboard in your kitchen, you need to REALLY enjoy dusting! (And probably have light-coloured flooring that won't show the dust too much.)

mewant, the chalk I bought is the 'no dust' variety, their reviews said that indeed they produce no dust, so I hope!
