How long does paint take to dry...

No seriously!

Our utility is in a state with marks and just general tiredness, so I'm thinking about painting it in a nice pastel shade.

It's not a room that we cook or do anything exciting in so would be going for bog standard cheap emulsion - probably silk so I can wipe if needed.

I think I can do the room in about an hour as its tiny, but how long would it take to dry as I'm thinking about doing it while DS naps?! And he can now open doors so my original plan of just shutting the door has been scuppered!

Crown paint is touch dry in 2 hours, properly dry 4 hours later.

Why don't you watch it and see?

It says n the can usually and will depend on how warm the room is etc.

You may be able to "lock" the door by tying string to the utility side handle, looping it over the door, shutting the door and then tying the string tight to the handle on "your" side so it can't be pushed down.

Oh 2 hours should be fine - I can gate him out of the kitchen for a bit.

Never though about reading the cans Blush it's been that long since I painted!

remember that paint dries by airflow, not by heat. Unless it is freezing, opening the windows will dry it fast, and keeping the room shut will make it slow.
