How much do you spend on oil fuelled heating?

I ask because I've just noticed that after a dec15 fill up of 1000l, I'm down to a quarter of a tank. This is a second home so the heating is on no more than 60hrs a week, on a lowish setting boiler on setting 3 of 5, TVRs on full downstairs, and on 2 upstairs. House is a 3 bed, well insulated, sash windows with no sec glazing, but with full internal wooden shutters which we use at night. Anyway, I worked out that my heating is costing around £20 per day, afive other fiver a day on logs for the woodburner. This is my first time with oil. Can this possibly be real, or is there a serious prob with my boiler (we're in rented..). Help!

3 bed, largish old house, double glazed and main windows south facing.
We use about 2000 litres a year possibly a bit less. Heating on 24/7 most of the winter, hot water twice a day for a couple of hours a bit of cooking. I have a gas stove and combo oven microwave.

I'm glad you started this thread as I've been worrying about our oil usage for a while.

To be honest, your £20/day sounds similar to us over winter - despite me trying to improve things since last year.

However, we're in a 500 year-old listed building so no double glazing, limited insulation and gaps to the outside in some rooms.

We have a 1250 litre tank. It gets filled in Nov and Feb with 1000 litres of oil, at a cost of a out £550 each time.
Heating is on for a couple of hours in the morning and 3 hours in the evening (although we sometimes turn it off if the weather is mild). Largish old 3 bed semi.

We usually have 1000 ltrs delivered around Nov and again in March each yr.
Heating comes on at 6.30 am then I leave it on but turn thermostat down to 15c if I am going out . Usually turn it back up before kids come home from school and it is on til 10.30pm. On all day at weekends. Hot water on for 8 hrs a day. 5 bed detached fairly modern house - so I guess costs average £100pm. Had same amount delivered last yr even with very cold weather
( -19 here last winter).
OP I would say either your oil has been drained or you need a new boiler!
