Tips for protecting wooden sash windows from condesation damage

My kitchen window is a huge wooden sash. The windoes are constantly steamed up and the paint is cracking. I do wipe it often but am tiring of it. Does anyone have any tips for protecting the frame?

TIA

I think your only options are to open the window so it doesn't get steamed up (a chilly option at this time of year), use a dehumidifier (expensive) and repaint the wood where the paint is cracking.

Or replace windows with uPVC or similar.

Extractor fan, of course.

That would also work. Grin

I echo comments about additional ventilation. Replacing windows won't solve a thing!

Paint onto the glass a tiny but all the way round and maybe even run a very small line o silicone sealant round the edge of the glass - that way there will be a seal between the glass and the wood - make sure you wipe condensation as soon as it occurs too.

Thank you all for your tips. Double hlazing and extractor are not options as it is not possible to get consent for these in my building.

I asked a builder about silicone and he said it would get yellow.

Dehumidifier is the best option.

U CAN SEAL WOOD 2 GLASS WITH CLEAR NAILPOLISH

AND CREATE A FUCKING HORRIBLE JOB PLUS ROTTEN WINDOW FRAMES.

:rolleyes

And yes, I know that code doesn't work here.
