got a dishwasher and trying to work out the best place to put it, ideally it would go where the cooker is and the cooker would be moved to the side but would it look odd? tiny offshot kitchen so nothing out of reach anyway.

so there would be sink, turn corner then one tiny unit, dishwasher then drawer unit then cooker, the hob and fan would stay above the dishwasher. this would be the easiest place for the plumbing.
the alternative is to extend the dishwasher pipes and take behind the cooker.
any opinions gratfully recieved, guy coming to fit on mon hopefully so need to decide.

My cooker is an eye level one built into a wall unit away from my hob and extractor

I prefer them to be apart adn I hate bending down to get stuff out from grill and oven

Hob above dishwasher doesnt work IMO.

so not under the hob? the dishwasher is black (does this make any difference to the over all look)

you really need an extractor above your hob - I bet altering the plumbing would be a lot simpler than moving the extractor!

cyb · 28/01/2012 10:18

just thinking practically- youre trying to cook stuff at the hob and theres stuff neeeding to go in DW and theres steam and water

Just doesnt seem to go practically togther

ditavonteesed · 28/01/2012 10:19

the fan would still be above the hob, its just that the dishwasher would be under it rather than the cooker, I think it would probaby be better to stick with the original idea of extending the plumbing. just want to make sure we get it right iyswim.

so it would, sorry, I read it wrong!

I have a bigger kitchen, with d/w at right angles to the cooker/hob - I don't usually have any need to open the d/w while using the hob. (Someone else might come in needing to put something in, which can wait of course, or maybe get something out - would that be a problem for you?)

Anyway although it would be unusual I don't see why it wouldn't work (& you could use the extractor to take the steam away if you ever have to open the d/w while it's running Grin)

I wouldn't have thought you'd be able to fit a dishwasher under a hob as the hob would go deeper than the worktop. Kids does. I'd have thought most appliances need to be under a flat bench.

We have our oven built in in a unit away from hob and fan. It's great.

feelinghappynow · 28/01/2012 12:07

Kids! Ours I meant - oops

noddyholder · 28/01/2012 12:08

You can't really put a dishwasher under successfully as you usually get a vapour barrier sheet with dishwashers

Ponders · 28/01/2012 12:11

how does that work, noddy?

SardineQueen · 28/01/2012 12:20

Hobs have electricity and sparks and gas and fire
Dishawashers have water and hosepipes and stuff

I don't think they mix?

I also agree that you wouldn't be able to fit it under, we just had our hob moved and it if not flat across underneath it come deeper. Then there are the gas pipes and things back there as well.

SardineQueen · 28/01/2012 12:21

"extend the dishwasher pipes "

They're just rubber hosepipes so that shoudn't be too tricky I wouldn't have thought

ditavonteesed · 28/01/2012 12:42

cool, so think wee will stick with original plan then. guy doing it said no problem to etend pipes just wondered if there was another way round it.

I think it is the best idea Smile
