I've got a blank slate for decorating our (Victorian) living room and I want a gorgeous fabric for the windows as a starting point - can I find anything? Nope...

Tell me your favourite places for fabric inspiration please! I liked this <a class="break-all" href="http://www.google.co.uk/imgres?q=harlequin+fabric+pink&um=1&hl=en&client=safari&rls=en&biw=1227&bih=550&tbm=isch&tbnid=QjBobXqXIvtzMM:&imgrefurl=www.housetohome.co.uk/dining-room/picture/pink-kitchen-1&docid=xlLGwsboxoIB-M&imgurl=housetohome.media.ipcdigital.co.uk/96%25257C00000c75d%25257Cb2db_orh550w550_pink-kitchen1.jpg&w=550&h=550&ei=ygwgT5CkJsWv8gOApPmcDg&zoom=1&iact=hc&vpx=111&vpy=215&dur=533&hovh=224&hovw=224&tx=115&ty=163&sig=106021790978936561083&page=3&tbnh=165&tbnw=165&start=46&ndsp=17&ved=1t:429,r:0,s:46" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">Harlequin one but worried that the silk would fade.

I quite like the geometric/floral/moroccany type look (not ikat), not too damasky and not too Laura Ashleyish chintzy....argh. Also love Amy Butler but all hers seem to be dressmaking fabrics......too much choice...

How about this? The plum on grey version is gorgeous IMO, and if you want something fresh then the blue on white is too.

these amalienborg fabrics are beautiful irl the colours are stunning

I like the one you linked to, if it is lined it shouldnt fade.
Have a look at Romo and Voyage for lovely fabrics which arent chintzy/damasky. Both have websites.

I've made up Romo fabric blinds and they are fabulous. Fabric's just the right weight and density of weave.

Please bear in mind that all reds are more prone to fading.
You can use blackout lining to ameliorate this.

Also try designers guild in general, villa nova, zoffany and Alhambra. if your looking at more delicate fabrics try putting a bit of interlining into the roman blind to make it hang nicer - you can get lovely black out lining now too in some lovely colours and textures - designers guild has a lovely range (can't remember name of book though sorry! ) Smile

If you like the harlequin stuff then presumably you have seen this www.tuiss.co.uk/roman-blinds/3151/harlequin-azara-1262.htm

The blue version is lovely.

I have a Victorian house and have used William Morris fabrics and wallpaper throughout. Absolutely beautiful patterns and true to the age of the property. You can go as mad or as subtle as you want. www.william-morris.co.uk I'd suggest you find a local fabric shop that sells them, it's part of the Sanderson group, so that you can see them in-the-flesh. I'm living in France at the moment and my house is rented out. I miss my William Morris!

Thanks to Partridge and Emma for prompting me to go back to Harlequin and Morris.....think I might be approaching a decision...Grin
