Anyone recommend a wood type that won't be too liable for scratches or dents from heels please?

Hi - we had Kahrs oak flooring put in our house 10 years ago - hall & lounge - i love it - so easy to clean & very tough - it has got a few scratches & dents over the years but still looks good - if it gets really tatty you can get someone round to sand it down a bit & re-varnish but we havn't reached that point yet - might do when kids & dog are gone

Have a look at Amtico. It comes in a range of patterns including ones that look like wood.

I have the Burnt Chestnut in my kitchen and dining room and it looks like new still 10 years after I laid it. It's waterproof and will not swell like wood does when it gets wet, it does not scratch of dent due to Heels, and it is also fairly warm under foot. The only downside is it is fairly expensive but it will last 25 plus years they reckon. Judging by how mine is wearing, I believe them.

We also had Kahrs engineered 3-strip oak, laid 11 years ago. We've had it sanded and refinished once (never again, we had to move out) and it's great. A bit dented and scratched here and there, but no real problems.
