You know the whole cosy plaid/ woolly tartan look?

As above! I know I want to go for this look with leather sofas/ dark wood furniture. I also know that woolen fabric is vv£ so thought that plaid cushions and throws would cover that element but what do you use on windows? More plaid would be overkill... Thought of an animal print (Emily Bond-ish) but they aren't quite right in that we don't ride or hunt. BTW we live in an old farmhouse so it shouldn't look too contrived (I hope!) Can anyone make any suggestions, please?

How about lineny fabrics - the faded kind with stripes or checks that look like old teacloths. Like this:

Ian Mankin

though lots of other places also do this style of fabric.

I have seen very simple window treatments done of cream roman blinds and then on the outside a cafe curtain pole with a tweed blanket over the top if it with the fringing arranged over the top and clipped (or sewn).

Thought that looked very cool.

Thanks for replies. Like the idea of combining the two- Natural lineny/ quite rough fabric with the blanket idea. Love the idea of talking about window treatments! Laurie, what is a cafe curtain pole? (scuse ignorance) Also, are you still candle making? You inspired me to start tho my pillar mould is too wide and I have to pour out excess wax and same if I make in a glass etc.
