Boring question about lighting inside wardrobes

GrendelsMum · 23/01/2012 21:59

My wardrobe is in a very dark corridor, and I'd like to get a light to go inside it that would switch on automatically when the wardrobe door opens. Really, it needs to be battery powered rather than mains powered.

Has anyone seen anything like that? Till I get one, I am selecting clothes pretty much in the dark...

I wonder if you could buy a fridge light separately? That would work but maybe not look very stylish

Unfortunately, fridge lights are mains powered. DH is an electrician and says that any suitable light would probably go through batteries quite quickly. The closest thing he can think of is a battery operated sensor light (like a security light) - that's not to say there aren't better products out there; he just doesn't know of them.

It would probably be easier to get a battery operated light that you turn on and off manually.

any good?

Thanks for that, everyone! Looks like we'll need to think this through again.

If it is any help, ikea sell the kind of sensor lights for wardrobes that I think you are looking for, but they do plug into a socket rather than run on batteries or connect to a light switch....

ah... I was planning a trip to Ikea shortly, so I could look at those at the same time. Thanks!
