Anyone around who's good with colour?

We need to decorate our new kitchen - light oak units, cream floor, charcoal/black work surfaces. I can't decide on a colour. I was thinking of a shade of aqua, but am having second thoughts about it being too "cool" a colour to go with the warm toned units and floor.

Also, I'd like glass splashbacks, and I can't decide on a colour for those either. I fancy something bold.

Can anyone help this colour novice?

Have you got any thing that inspires you in the room? Artwork, favourite colour, china on display? I actually think the blues and greens set off cream and wood colours really well. If you go for a bright splashback, pick a colour you adore and keep walls neutral.

you get the idea here

Hmm Waily - I would still have to make a decision, and my colour matching functions weem to be vestigial.

Fossil, no art work etc. A giant TV (thanks DH for your one contribution to kitchen design) but otherwise a rather big blank echoing colourless space, with loads of folding doors.

What shades of blues/greens were you thinking?

Dulux also have a gadget thingy where you take a photo of a colour you like, through a thingy then upload it onto their site and they come up with a scheme for you. You have to get the thingy from B&Q but its pretty neat :)

Just anything. I was wandering round John lewis thinking there were some really inspiring colour schemes: e.g. here pale blue-green and apple green look good with cream, charcoal and oak. Your units etc are neutral so it's hard to go wrong.

OTOH if you are not confident with colour, have the permanent things like the tiles/glass neutral, and go for a colour with walls/accessories that can easily be changed. example
