bay window curtain poles?

Can anyone recommend bay window poles that are good and sturdy, but not too expensive? Preferably with rings that don't get all stuck on the passing brackets! It's for curtains which will be v long and therefore pretty heavy.
Thanks!

How about a made to measure iron pole? I can vouch for the straight ones being sturdy. The company are very helpful if you ring them up.

I suppose £150 to £200 is not that cheap but maybe you can economise on the curtain fabric?

Bay Window Poles

The main problem with bay window poles IME is getting the supports right, I think it helps to have a double bracket at each end so the pole doesn't "see-saw" over the centre bracket. (We had this problem with a cheap wooden sectional pole in a previous house).

Also have gentle bends rather than sharp corners so the curtains draw smoothly around.

thanks, not sure I know what you mean by double bracket? Do you mean 2 brackets adjacent to each other. Or is it one that also attaches from the top of the pole to stop it going upwards?

Dumelm Mill does them - we had them in our old house and were fine - one window was a box bay which meant that the rings got a little bit stuck but I think they would've done with any pole as it was tricky jiggling through a 90 degree angle...

Try Merrick and Day, think they work out about £150 retail, they are cast iron poles that are bent to your specs. Not too tricky to put up either. They have brackets that C rather than O shaped rings can pass over in the corners.

I mean two adjacent to each other about 4 inches apart, not all windows would need it but on ours it helped keep the unsupported corners stable.

There was a thread about this recently - have a search. The OP ended up getting John Lewis to come and measure for her and advise which they charge £50 for but is redeemable against buying poles from them

Both John Lewis and Laura Ashley do a bay window curtain pole which you "bend" to get the right curve and which allow you to draw the curtains properly.... However, don't touch Laura Ashley with a long (curtain)pole as they are way more expensive than John Lewis, don't deliver all the pieces, and then use crap delivery companies too... Then to add insult to injury, their customer services are just awful!

We ended up having to get the money refunded via our credit card company and buying it off John Lewis. Happy to say that it all worked like clockwork from then on!

I have just ordered one from Next so I will let you know how we get on with it.
