Private rent/Ripped wallpaper wwyd?

3 DCs (oldest is three) have managed to rip/draw on wallpaper in two bedrooms and landing, I privately rent but I'm allowed to decorate as long as it is neutral/pleasant.
I really need some hand holding as I've never decorated before and don't know where to start (Its a pain but a blessing in disguise that I've got to do it at all). One room is blue paper and blue carpet, other room green paper and green carpet, landing lining paper painted lemon and darker blue carpet.

Do I repaint landing? Do I paint the rooms or repaper them? I'm so hopeless... All advice, ideas and guidance much appreciated TIA

You'll have to repaper the ripped bits but could get away with painting over any drawing. What did they draw with?

Permanent marker Blush DD2 can scale shelving units Blush. I think I'll hide the bedroom sins with strategically placed furniture for the next inspection (they are every three months) but I'll have to sort the hallway before then SadAngrySad

You'd need to paint over any pen with a sealer then or the marks just come through.

I'd rip all the wallpaper off and paint the walls.

Wallpapering is a bitch! It's really hard to do well.

DD2 draw on a yellow painted wall with black felt, semi permanent, the only thing which worked is bleaching the drawing with cotton tip with a bit of thick bleach on top and draw over. When everything has disappeared, wash the wall with water let dry (damp cloth). Then if needed, paint over with a bit of matching paint (you can buy samplers if you don't have anything left).
Very minimal work.

For the wall paper you will have to repaper or get rid of it and paint. But there is usually a reason why the walls are papered in the first place; lots of holes uneven walls...

B&Q has some "paste the wall" wall papers which are easy to put on yourself, are forgiving because thicker, and "washable".
For normal wall paper you need to be 2.
If you go for neutral colours and no patterns or easy ones you won't have to match borders and will need less of it.

Wallpapering isn't difficult at all if you take your time and choose your paper carefully.

Except for the hall/stairs/landing where it has that long inaccessible drop.

you might consider a paintable vinyl wallpaper. These are usually somewhat textured like hessian or with an embossed pattern. They will stand up to dirt and drawing and can be re-emulsioned or washed. Some pens may bleed through and need a white oil-paint undercoat before emulsioning.

Vinyl wallcoverings are stronger and stiffer than actual paper, and do not stretch or tear easily, so you might find them easier to put up (or get a woman in to do it). They are very easy to strip.

Thanks everyone, I'm off to check out B&Q I think, I think the walls are uneven hence the paper
