Ther are no pictures of the inside and the blurb says it is 'in need of updateing'
What, exactly, should I prepare myself for when we view?
And what work is likely to be needed...

It's the first house that is a good size in a good location, that we could actually afford-just.its 5k over budget,so they may tell us to do one,but you have to live in hope,eh?!!

Hmm,it is very annoying, but they were quite sure they wouldn't let me see it,they even said they had not 100% decided on he price yet Confused

that sounds very odd to me and makes me think the agent might want it. i put mine on last week and it took a few days to go on rightmove so they have had enough time. Any chance you know where it is and go there yourself?

DelGirl · 16/01/2012 14:22

sorry just read thread again and seen that you have b ut maybe you can knock, it is being advertised after all.

FriggFRIGG · 16/01/2012 14:30

No,i think it's a repossession...I'm shy at the best of times,I am certainly not going to knock on a random persons door!
Apparently it's filthy and needs 'clearing out' when I went I to the EA there were 2 agents on the phone BOTH were discussing this property with buyers-saying they couldn't see it yet, they reckon it will be fit to view early next week.

We are going to go and speak with the EAs 'in house' mortgage advisor, they want to see if they can get us a better deal-I don't think try can,but it will bump us up so that we are the first people they call,apparently....

When it seems undervalued it may be the location? Many a house on line seemed weirdly reasonable yet turned out to be smack on a main road. If its cosmetic but the place is spacious and in a pleasant location yes go for it. We bought a shabby place in London on a quiet road and sold it 2 years later for double what we paid for it Shock wasn't intentional we just got lucky. Lots of people had turned their noses up at the place we bought because it was full of clutter and mens underpants on the radiators but underneath that it was a gem.

So what happened Frigg??????

cowboylover · 22/01/2012 00:55

Sounds exciting! You can get a good buy as some buyers still can't see past the basics.

The house sounds like the description of the one we just bought. Its warm and dry with recent upvc and boiler but a range of very patterned wallpaper, crazy colours of carpet, slight smell of wee and a stair lift but 1 month and 5k later it looks like a different house already.

LoopyLoopsHootyHoots · 22/01/2012 01:07

We bought a house for 33% less than the asking price because of its state of repair. We've decorated throughout, put in carpets, doors, new kitchen, utility room and a new downstairs loo. It is easily worth the full price now, we have spent probably £10k on it.

FriggFRIGG · 22/01/2012 11:36

Well....we are STILL waiting to view.

They say we should be able to see it Monday/tuesday.

BUT weirdly,it isn't appearing on rightmove anymore Confused not even under a 'sold stc' search....so I guess they've taken it off until hey can arrange viewings etc.

But it's all very odd if you ask me.

Maybe if it's a sale from a dereavement they might not have probate granted so they should not be advertising it yet?

Fingers crossed for you

Thanks maryz
