best carpet for kids room?

Trying to find carpet for dd's (2) new room. Thought I'd decided but John Lewis man has just put me off wool blend saying won't clean as well and I should go for polypropelene.

Not loving the colour in poly, would a wool blend really be that bad an idea? Happy to spend the money (on clearance at £20 sq m) but obviously would want/need it to last. Should I just go for the poly at £15 sq m?

Probably worth pointing out that dd is not potty trained yet.

ooh, how does the ice cube thing work for wool carpets MrsM? Got dents all over ours from previous owners' furniture... Vax-ing has not helped.

MrsKitty · 09/01/2012 13:52

Thanks mrsmagnolia. Am still in JL so may just go back and order it right now and stop contemplating a trip to carpetright... Just feels so much nicer!

Ice cube is intriguing. Might find myself unnecessarily moving furniture to try it out Grin.

minipie you put the ice cube into the dent and leave it there, I don't know how it works but it has worked for me in the past with wool blend.

MrsKitty Having had 2 children with reflux and therefore sick to clean up with a carpet cleaner I think wool blend is easier to clean.

They always try to tell you that polyprop doesn't stain but of course it does because they dye it lots of different colours.

One of my Dad's first jobs was in a carpet factory where they made carpet, he always advises 80/20 wool mix and a damn good underlay.

We put cloud 9 underlay down in the last house, try to get that or similar. We put that down and 4 years later changed the carpet (from cheap polyprop to cheap polyprop) as we were moving house and needed it to look good for viewings.

Oooh. will try that this evening. does it leave a water mark on the carpet though?

Ok, think I'm going to take the plunge and book an estimators appt. One more question though. The colour I'm after is available in 40oz or 32oz. £60 difference (total) between them. Which one would ne better?
