Would you have sisal in your bedroom?

Is it too hard underfoot? I like it but can't decide if it will bother me for not being too soft. I like the look of it, too.

No I wouldn't, beacuse I have it (came with house) and it looks permanently dirty and worn where it gets walked on and there is naff all you can do.

Oh and it grazes children when they fall on it.

Get carpet.

LynetteScavo · 08/01/2012 14:19

I lived in a house which had it on the stairs and landing.

I was hard underfoot, but I got used to it.

I would love to sisal in the living room in this house. It's really cheep compared to quality carpet, but carpet fitters ^hate6 fitting it. In fact they hate fitting it they charge so much it's easier to just have carpet.

In my bedroom I settled for sanded, painted floorboards.

no

it is hard and rough, and you will get fibres on your feet which will come off on the sheets.

I find carpet by far the warmest and most comfortable floor covering for bedrooms. I wouldn't want anything else (I live oop north)

HappyWilly · 09/01/2012 15:34

No, I stayed in a hotel which had this on the bedroom floor. It is hard, pokey and uncomfortable.

No horrible underfoot

pootlebug · 09/01/2012 17:24

I had it in a flat years ago (I didn't put it in) and it's true that you got used to it on your feet. I wouldn't have it with kids though. And it's tough to clean - it's much easier to clean carpet.

SaraBellumHertz · 09/01/2012 17:25

Agree with everyone else it is actually uncomfortable to walk on.

Thistledew · 09/01/2012 17:29

I had a jute/wool mix in my last flat. It is softer to walk on than sisal, but wears extremely well and is better than carpet to keep clean. It has the same ribbed 'corduroy' look as sisal and you can get it in a range of honey/ biscuit tones.

Whorulestheroost · 09/01/2012 17:58

We have this on our stairs www.Kersaintcobb.co.uk/product.aspx?Productid=559 and an adjoining sisal carpet running along the landing. I thought that it was be really hard and uncomfortable under foot but it's been fine. It helps to have the thickest underlay as it gives it more padding iykwim. If you really like the look of it then go for it :)

tethersend · 09/01/2012 18:07

I have it everywhere and love it. The one we have is a tight weave though, so more 'woven' IYSWIM.

You get used to it underfoot and it looks great and is hard wearing.

Can't recommend it highly enough.
