Having gas installed in conversion flat

We have bought a flat at the top (2nd floor) of an old Victorian building. It definitely needs work and one of the things we want to get on with is putting in GCH. There doesn't seem to be any gas connection in our flat although flats on the floors below all have gas. Will the utility company extend into our flat and how much will it cost (roughly)? Will it mean pulling up floors in the common areas which I can't see our neighbours being too happy about? Has anyone done this?

Thank you posting this question! We are also in the process of buying a top floor flat (to develope) in a victorian house and like yours there is no GCH. There is electric storage heaters which we want to pull out.
there is gas to other flats so am hoping it means getting the gas board to put in a meter for our flat.
We judged a budget of £5,000 but have nop idea at this stage if this is reasonable.
