DVD Storage

Ok ladies and gents my husband has over 400 DVD's. I cannot stand looking at them any longer. Can anyone please suggest a cupboard for them? I have Corona Mexican Pine at the moment, so something along those lines would be perfect, but I cannot find anything large enough to take 400. I would ideally prefer no more than 2 units, although am open to the possibility that I am going to need more when these DVD's breed!

Ikea do a few DVD storage options - not sure how many you'd need for 400!

Why not put them, or get them put, onto an MP3/Ipod and then put them in the loft?

i was going to say something similar too - but thought better not as it may be his pride and joy! Buy some sort of streaming hard drive/nas or even just use desktop computer. Copy them all onto it, connect to TV over wifi. Then store dvd.s in a massive couple of boxes in loft. Or better still, sell them and make a load of money back!

Storage for CDs has been around for a lot longer than for DVDs. Try going to Amazon and searching on "CD storage".

Since it's obvious from what's printed onto the DVD itself what it's about, it isn't really necessary for them to be kept with the cases/inserts, which could be stored in the loft.

Never thought of going the technical route. Have suggested it and he is happy to go that way, and sell the DVD's - Could kiss you befuzzled

Now all I have to do is figure out how to do all of this not a technophobe honest

I recently got rid of all my CDs, copied them onto iTunes. Sold them on music magpie for 50 quid in total! Didn't have that many either. I think music magpie do DVDs as well or someone similar will be. Even at 50p a DVD that's potentially 200 odd quid! Some people worry about losing everything so whichever solution you put on place make sure you have a backup strategy and keep the DVDs until you are confident it is resilient. Magazines like what hifi soun and vision, T3 et have reviews and ideas on how to do it, you will need good wifi and a newish tv, sounds like your DH would be already at that level if he's really into his movies. Someone like richer sounds may be able to give you some ideas.

Thanks befuzzled never thought of them. We have a tv which is 2 years old ish now, and we will be getting surround sound when we return to UK (We are posted overseas at the moment). Never heard of music magie, so will have a nose in a bit. Thanks for your advice.
