Anyone recently had a new Combi installed?

Hi all, first time on this topic but regular poster.

I'm looking to get a new Combi boiler installed, allready have one which is no longer heating the flat and after repairs were made last year to it, we were advised that parts would be scarce for this very old (defunct?) model. The current boiler, even when working and only a couple of radiators are on, will not heat the remaining rads to a sufficient level. Hot water is hit and miss, but usually OK.

I have arranged for a few different engineers to pop round to advise on prices etc, but wondered if anyone had done the same recently, and if so, would you mind advising me (even roughly) of how much it cost?

I would need new boiler (not top of the range or most powerful as 2bed flat/1 bath), one extra radiator, a system flush and, I believe, thermostatic valves on each of my existing rads (new requirement?)

If anyone could share their wisdom, Id be very happy!!

Haha, Egg, a combined (or combi if you will, ahem) birthing/boiler thread....there's MN first Grin

Mmmm, suzi, think we only need a basic one. Got a worcester atm but as I say is as old as the hills.

Also, think that's reasonable for the make, Egg, as they seem to have the best reputation.

Suggest you get a few quotes. We put in a combi 2 years ago and had 4 quotes ranging in price from £1600 to £4700!!

We went for second lowest quote, £1950, for boiler, complete flush of existing radiators, new valves on all existing radiators, and thermostatic control panel. Was brilliant decision and I lurve my new, lovely, warm, controllable central heating. BTW, we live in 3 storey, 4 bed, terrace.

Oh yes, sorry forgot to mention, boiler is a Vaillant. Superb boiler, love it.

LikeAnAdventCandleButNotQuite Happy due date, how are you today?

I feel great, thanks, Egg. Not a dicky bird in the way of 'signs' though. DH is on red-alert, at work, his last shift today (a school) and is going for after-work drinks, but I don't think he'll be able to settle there Grin

Was going to go to the Supermarket, but its SNOWING (yeeeeeaaaahhhhhhh) so I thought 'meh' I have an excuse to not go out Grin

Just trying to relax and not go 'oooh, what's that??' at ever little niggle

Been there with every niggle - it was mostly wind.

Stay in and watch Christmas movies. Order shopping online if you need to.

Dad is gas engineer and always recommends Worcestor Bosch. Should be done in a day and I'd expect to pay almost £2000 depending what other bits you have done.

Good luck and enjoy your LO when he/she arrives.

I had an Ideal Logic Combi fitted last year (couldn't afford Worcester). It's been great - think I paid just over £1000 inc installation. I've just had some new TRVs fitted and they cost just under a tenner each to buy.
