in frame kitchen - good idea or not?

I am considering an inframe handpainted kitchen such as handmade kitchens of christchurch. Love the look but am wondering if I will be sacrificing space with the inframe doors? Also you seem to get less of the interior space saving stuff like pull out drawers, corner carousels etc that you get with the ikea, howdens, wickes etc kitchens.

Have looked at other kitchens but the Harvey jones etc are not in my price range (actually not even sure that Handmade of Christchurch are either!) Just not keen on the mdfness of them.

I currently have an Ikea kitchen which is great but we are getting an extention and everything else will be new so think will prob replace kitchen as well. Although am wondering whether to keep what we have and add to it as the range is still available.

Please help!!

Bumping - as we are in the same position as you and I have been wondering the same thing.

You could look at Benchmarx. They have one that is in frame for the larger cupboards but, for the slimmer ones, they just look like in-frame, but they are not. I was quite impressed with the quality.

You don't lose cupboard space although, as you've noticed, you can't fit a carousel, pull out rack or similar. You do lose drawer space as they're several cm narrower. I also found that the drawer runners kept coming off because they're attached to spacers rather than the cupboard sides but if you buy a decent kitchen that shouldn't be a problem.

I've never had an inframe, so I can't advise on practicalities. Just to second that the Benchmarx Borrowdale and Dovedale are supposedly the suppliers to Wickes Heritage grey, so they are the same thing but much cheaper. The carcasses are pre-assembled white (no wood look unless in the ones that show the interiors like glass fronted cupboards) and the doors on this range are solid wood frames with wood veneer panels which are then painted. They are trade, but they will do a costing for you.

Hi - we recently put in a new kitchen - looked around for ages...the in frame style made the cupboard opening much narrower, although the Wickes Heritage is lovely.

thanks for the replies, it seems that there are practical limitations to the inframe look. Still not sure what to do as don't think I could be without my pull out racks and wide drawers that I have got used to with my Ikea kitchen.
