My advice is to oil them over and over in the first few weeks when you are still in love with them and use that as an incentive! The more you oil them and let each coat fully dry initially the better they look and last.

Wood and Beyond were ok for price but ours were damaged when they arrived (presumably from outsourced transit) Fortunately, builder could cut to size avoiding damaged bits, putting damaged edge to wall etc. But they look lovely, really really lovely - make a kitchen look warm and homely and welcoming somehow. We didn't complain because we could sort it out but do check when they are delivered if you use any online company (assume could happen with any) And yes, any offcuts can be cut down to be chopping boards. I oiled all sides 3 times before fitting.

Barncrest also looked lovely but were a lot more expensive although come pre-oiled, I think. People rate Worktop Express as well. Local suppliers were much more expensive, I found.

I used worktop express and was really happy with the service and quality of the wood sent to me.However i ordered Wenge and Iroko wood only, from them.I used Ikea oak in the utility, which seems to mark instantly whatever you put on it.I honestly wouldn't recommend oak if you have any kids and if you're not totally anal about cleaning up all the time.I love Liberon worktop sealant which can used over danish oil.My iroko has survived my mum resting pots on tea on it,without marking, because of it.
