Sorry that links didn't convert - any idea how to do that on a smartphone?

Partridge, I love all the papers especially the /dotty one and the Cath Kidston. I think you could paper the whole room in the yellow, but would want one or two Walls plain if you used the CK. I think the yellow lends itself to more colour and pattern options for soft furnishings and accessories. But the colour is quite in-your-face if the rest of your house is Hoppen-esque.

Ooh thank you! I know the feature wall can be a bit naff, but it's all about money, so whichever I choose might have to be just one wall - plus I have some nice prints for the other walls...

Not hoppen-esque - pretty much busy busy - lots of vintage and retro textiles etc.

Step back from the wallpaper!
All nice, all pretty expensive and (I have five boys) they will hate it within a year, or it will just seem ridiculous, unless you decorate every two years.

I don't think the trees would look ridiculous - its pretty mid-century modern. My kids are not gong to be allowed character duvets and posters. Ever. Grin

Also the littlest boy is only 4 months.he can inherit when the big boys move on. If they get wallpaper now then I am hoping they will just evolve with their room and not notice anyway...

Thank you! I will ... But it'll be a while yet as I have to convince dh that the expensive wallpaper is totally essential. Wink

I agree with 7to25

Go with something plain, maybe different colour paints and possibly a stripe wall paper. Children's rooms tend to be busy busy and full of stuff and they need to evolve. My son's room is currently on 3rd incarnation. He was 4 when we moved in (baby blue walls, chambray denim curtains, animal cushions). Then we added a deep red wall with some city at night framed drawings and a change of bedding to Stars and stripes type, now adding some black elements with a painted and wood desk to make it more grown-up. He's now 10.

£150 a roll!

partridge · 04/12/2011 07:27

Yeah but with the cath k you only need a couple of rolls as its a kind of mural.

dear Partridge,
The Cath Kidston one is not even washable. In a few years the smell of that room will be so overpowering that you won't care about the wallpaper.
the boys will HATE it. Their friends will have the official Chelsea/ManU/Millwall wallpaper and they will have Stonehenge and Blackpool Tower, MUM!!!!!!!!!
Take the £300 and buy something lovely for yourself. You have great taste.

Oh god. I knew I should've had a girl...
