Wow, that's a lovely house! I don't quite get the thread though -are you selling or buying it?

coccyx · 02/12/2011 18:04

Quite nice. Bit characterless for me and I would want some of that field!

AgnesBligg · 02/12/2011 18:21

I didn't like it at all until the last picture where I seem to be looking through the arch to the rear end of a lovely old manor. So what. Did they render the front to of the house to rid it of all it's character? Confused

buggyRunner · 02/12/2011 18:53

im thinking of buying- nice area, good size etc. Thought we could all post properties were interested in so we can get a different unbiased oppinion!

The last picture is lovely what part is that is it part old?

Lightofthemoon · 02/12/2011 19:08

I would check all those fields aren't going to be built on in the future.

buggyRunner · 02/12/2011 19:09

its thed old policde house- not a v old building anyway- think post war? I like it as its done but good room dimensions- far better than a new build

MotherPanda · 02/12/2011 19:09

why is there a close up of the taps? Very arty. But all in lovely condition. Buy Buy Buy!

MotherPanda · 02/12/2011 19:11

no wait - I've found a fault. They've got silly square loo seats. Argos Value range don't do silly square loo seats.

buggyRunner · 02/12/2011 20:05

Field behind is farmers land, no plans to build aoparently

I quite like it but personally I don't think there is enough downstairs space. The dining room is tiny and the lounge is not exactly massive! You could potentially have 5 people living in it (2 parents and 3 kids) and I feel they'd all be on top of one another. I'd be looking at converting the garage to make it another room

jollyoldstnickschick · 02/12/2011 22:55

Its haunted !!! look upstairs in the 4 windows - theres a person looking out .......

befuzzled · 02/12/2011 23:32

I would snap that up. But then I live in the southeast where that would cost 1.2 million

hester · 03/12/2011 00:14

It's a good house. Bit characterless but you can add that - get some greenery in the front, add interest to back garden, make it a bit less beige inside.

Gonzo33 · 03/12/2011 06:56

I like it and the property has potential to put your own stamp on it.

BigusBumus · 03/12/2011 07:04

It's a blank canvas, could be nice. I would paint all the window frames White though, I hate brown windows! And front door and garage door a nice F&B colour.

buggyRunner · 03/12/2011 08:01

Well have a second viewing this week- it's done by developers and has already been reduced 50k- what would you offer for it ?

OP posts:
HarrietJones · 03/12/2011 09:14

I think the same about downstairs.as much as I like a utility roomyou need a second living space on a house that size & the dining room doesn't work.

buggyRunner · 03/12/2011 10:48

The d room wall is a stud wall so there's space to extend it into the utility room a meter and a half anyway, also the garage is massive and we could extend it there too. The dressing room is a big room too, bigger than a single

I love it! It's a beautiful house, really nice kitchen and bathroom. I think the clean, beige, uncluttered look is better than having "character" personally, you can add your own taste to it and it all just looks lovely and new and shiny, and the size seems big to me. I think it looks good value, not that I know that area but you seem to be getting a lot for your money compared to a lot of places - i would go for it if i was you

confusedperson · 03/12/2011 19:25

Somebody who says there isn't enough of space, I wonder in what kind of palace do you live?!!! It's a massive house, I wish I could afford a half of it Xmas Wink

londonlottie · 03/12/2011 21:36

One reason why I think no-one else has posted the house they're interested in - I mean, what's the point, we're all so different. Why would I canvass the opinions of the whole of MN on the house I've fallen in love with? All it would do would either a) alienate me from everyone who couldn't afford such a house; b) give everyone reasons to criticise it not knowing all our criteria and basically c) serve no purpose whatsoever!

I'd never buy the house linked to earlier, although to me it does seem cheap. But that's because I live at the opposite end of the country and like period houses...!

partridge · 04/12/2011 07:32

Because its fun?! I love seeing what other people are into and if I was looking would definitely link to this thread...

This house is not my kind of thing, living in a Georgian terrace in Edinburgh, but I can still see why it would appeal / what it's shortcomings might be and how it could be improved.

Gonzo33 · 04/12/2011 10:30

I am horrendous for property porn. Being a mortgage adviser I am in a good place for it, but I also go home and look at houses I would like to buy when we buy our forever home.

Will take us a long time to save up for it though Sad
