Electric underfloor heating with ceramic tiles or not?

Arrgh flooring our kitchen diner in ceramic tiles. Will we regret it if we don't put in underfloor heating?
Will have radiators and log burner anyway.
Thinking mainly of our toddler and if he will find it really unpleasant if not heated - we spend a lot of time in that room. He will have a rug to play on.
Really appreciate hearing your experiences as our buget getting very tight towards the end of our renovation project!

Underfloor heating really is amazing and once you've had it you won't want to go back. I'd have a look at Warmup underfloor heating. They did ours and its been fantastic. The systems are really straightforward to install too and they have plenty of vids on their site so you get an understanding.

Having had it I' d say make room for it in your budget because its cheap to run and it pays for itself with the energy you'd save using the radiators or log burner to heat the whole room to compensate for the freezing tiles.

Thanks wynne that's useful to know. Our only experience is of my parents conservatoryheated floor and DH dislikes it because - i think - they set it too warm. So I'm struggling to convince him. I'll show him what you said. Thanks again

If you can possibly afford it, then I'd go for it. But with a kitchen diner that's quite a large area - we have water based u'floor heating in kitchen / diner which is great and more economical to run in a room that has a lot of use. It never feels 'hot' underfoot, just gently warm on cold winter mornings. Electric is better for smaller areas whcih don't need to be on for so long. But our top bathrrom has nothing and the floor is so cold it's now covered with cotton rugs, whichrather defeats the object of nice floor tiles in the first place.

it might not matter to you, but for the same amount of heat, electricity costs twice as much as gas.
