Heigh Ho Heigh Ho, to Ikea I go. What Ikea stuff do you have and love?

OK, it looks like we are going to move house pretty soon so I will need to go to Ikea to get a ton of stuff, from high chair to toys to kitchen stuff. It's a bit of a trek from where I live (we don't drive) and we'll have to have our stuff delivered anyway, so I want to maximise the effectiveness of my shopping spree. It will be the first time I go in nearly 5 years . We are not really looking at big items of furniture, it's more the storage ideas, kitchen gadgetry and kids' stuff I am after.

What Ikea products do you swear by and couldn't be without?

Swedish meatballs, here I come...

Spoka - good kids nightlight if you need one. Likewise their shades/kids lights

Trofast

Kids table and chairs if you need them, bed linen very cheap and 100% cotton.

Everybody also needs one of these

Nobody needs 1000 tealights. Seriously, just put them down and walk away.

JarethTheGoblinKing · 18/11/2011 17:25

Expedit also essential for toy storage

southeastastra · 18/11/2011 17:27

\link{http://www.ikea.com/gb/en/catalog/products/70207243/\this} it's really good for storage and a but different, also riba picture frames which are huge and really cheap

southeastastra · 18/11/2011 17:28

oh and the skubb Grin storage are great and cheap

JarethTheGoblinKing · 18/11/2011 17:28

Toy kitchen
Train track
Road play mat
Bigger play mat

Primafacie · 18/11/2011 17:29

Our flat is a temple dedicated to Trofast, so that box is ticked.

Will add the kids' nightlight to the list.

I like the hanging dryer - on the list it goes.

I've already got the million tealights. I bought the bag 13 years ago and still got some left.

Endless supply of childrens plastic tablewear

southeastastra · 18/11/2011 17:31

ooh they also have some lovely oblong velvet cushions that are lush

JarethTheGoblinKing · 18/11/2011 17:31

DS has got this skojig light on his expedit toy box, next to his kritter bed.

Blush

Temple of ikea here too...

emsyj · 18/11/2011 17:32

I love my Antilop high chair, it's the best thing EVER.

Smile
Primafacie · 18/11/2011 17:32

I quite like the Malm box. I will see where I could put five of them one.

We've got a train track and kitchen, but the big play mat goes on the list.

I am off to check Skubb storage online.

Keep them coming.

btw - the hanging dryer is called a socktopus in this house.

Grin
JarethTheGoblinKing · 18/11/2011 17:34

Mala blackboard, and everything else in that range Grin

(I'll stop now..)

GlaikitFizzog · 18/11/2011 17:35

Expedit storage thingys and the Antilop highchair!

The little Lack tables are £5ish so if they get drawn on or whacked by a trike, easily replaced, the floating shelves are great, we have them in almost every room!

I also like their picture frames.

Primafacie · 18/11/2011 17:36

Plastic tablewear is already on the list
Antilop high chair too
And cushions
Skojig lamp looks loooovely. The list is growing.

For gawd sake don't go on a saturday or a bank holiday weekend.

There's also a good reason why all children under 4 are screaming by the time you get to the lighting dept. and that's because it's hideously boring if you're not spending money.

Primafacie · 18/11/2011 17:40

The whole Mala range is already on the list! So are the sealing clips.

Ladies, it's like you know my innermost thoughts

Jareth don't go!

Adding picture frames to the list. I have done Lack and floating shelves (in numerous flats), so I'm looking for something slightly different this time.

Wine glasses

(how could i forget?!)

JarethTheGoblinKing · 18/11/2011 17:42

Which Ikea are you going to?

I can't leave. I am addicted to Ikea.

You know you can buy sachets of the gravy mix in the food store? Oh - they've got the gingerbread houses in too.

Primafacie · 18/11/2011 17:44

Scoundrel, I will be going on a weekday at 8 am, sans kids, and planning to stay there until dizzy and disoriented the kitchen opens.

My neighbour takes her kids there during half term and lets them loose to play on the beds Hmm. That would not add to my enjoyment.

OP posts:
JarethTheGoblinKing · 18/11/2011 17:44

Potty if applicable, and especially if you have boys.

Primafacie · 18/11/2011 17:45

Gingerbread houses!?!

How could I not know that?

Going to the Croydon one.

OP posts:
stickyLFDTfingers · 18/11/2011 17:46

it's not exactly furniture, but the vacuum flask teapot here is dab handy, keeps the tea hot for ages.

Primafacie · 18/11/2011 17:47

Nice potty. A bit early (DS is 6 months) but I may buy it and let DD use it as a sand bucket store it in the garage.
