Will I regret getting wood workflow and a butler sink?

will the sink chip? Will the workflow need constant policing for foodie stains?

We moved into a house that already had a black stone worktop from Ikea and we love it! And everyone who has come over loves it too. I love the fact I can cut stuff on it without a chopping board (sometimes I am a bit lazy with fruit) and it doesn't mark or stain whatever you do and so easy to wipe/clean. I would never get a wooden worktop. My ILs got a really expensive kitchen 18 months ago and my MIL who is really meticulous with the way she does house stuff, oiled and treated her wooden worktop 4 times before she even used it. Mould appeared around the base of the tap within months...

Agapanthii - is it the black stone effect (ie laminate) or their actual stone worktop?

Sorry jamaisjedors, that question is directed at me? Just looked at description carefully and it does say laminate. We have the actual stone worktop, looks like granite but definitely Ikea! Grin Can't find it on the website though! Hmm

Sorry yes, it WAS for you angel! Thanks, good to know that their stone worktops are good. I think the made-to-measure stuff isn't on the main site but only in their kitchen catalogue (which I have been spending too much time reading obviously!).

Our last house we installed black granite and while it looked as good the day we moved out as the day we installed it, I got really tired of having to "polish" it all the time. Basically, any time I had to wipe it down with a wet cloth I then had to go over it with a dry one or risk getting limescale marks. And even then, at the end of each night my husband would give a rub down to get any lurking marks off. P.I.T.A. Our new house we installed American black walnut which looks great and yes, I wipe up any wet spots but it seems more forgiving day to day than our granite. A different granite or perhaps a different water - we're in london - would be a different story I'm sure.

jamaisjedors DH who thinks he is a bit snobby posh refused to believe our kitchen is Ikea as it looks so good until I showed him the Ikea labels inside the kitchen drawers. We think the kitchen is about 5-6 years old and though the cupboard doors are looking a bit battered, the worktop is still really lovely and we get lots of comments about it. Definitely made me see Ikea in a slightly different light... :)
