Who do I call - plumber, builder or expert?

Our house has had a bad smell for 24 hours or so. After some investigation and a fruitless search for dead rodents I think it is a problem with our soil pipe, which leads out under the back terrace. There is a slight film of damp on the bricks under our dining room floor near where the soil pipe comes down. The smell in the dining room is of drains.

So is this something for a plumber to look at, a general builder or do I need a drainage expert?? Help please!

someone like dynorod if it is a blockage - high preddure jets?

Thanks Vicki, I'm worried a pipe has cracked, rather than anything being blocked - not sure they could help with that - or could they?

Oh the joys of maintaining a home. I have visions of trenches and mud and sewage. Can anyone else give some direction? I'll have to start making random phonecalls n the morning.

they wud be able to diagnose the probelem. think they have cameras to send doen the pipe. they will be able to advise the next step. Check if you are covered on buildings ins policy

Ok diagnosis with cameras sounds sensible, but expensive? Will do an online check. Thank you!

Ghostbusters? Plumber.

You want a drains expert which is not the same thing as a plumber.

If you are in London or south of London I can recommend a good one (he is based in Croydon).
