Right - have two paintings each measuring 90 x 90. They are a pair so I want to hang them together.
I'm hanging them on the window facing wall of a victorian sitting room. The wall to the left has the fireplace on so also have an alcove space which has fitted shelving.
Against this wall I also have a sofa - this is directly opposite a box bay window.
So, I don't know whether to hang the pictures directly above the sofa so that they are central to the wall and equal to the opposing windows, or whether to hang them equally on the wall (split the wall measurement into three and hang on each 'third') ignoring the furniture that is in the room. If I did this would I measure the width of the room minus the depth of the alcove sheving?
What would you do? I've made cutouts the size of the pictures and tried masking taping them to the wall - but I just can't decide.
Rest of the room is quite symmetrical in terms of furnishings etc - ie shelving and trunks in both alcoves, two sofa's opposite one another etc if that helps!
