Paying freeholder's legal fees?

We are in the middle of selling our flat, and the freeholder has asked us to pay the fees for getting his lawyer to answer questions from the buyer's lawyer. Is this a reasonable request or not?

I feel cross at the thought, and panicky about spiralling costs, but appreciate that we might just have to suck it up in order to protect the sale. But if it turns out to be totally normal then I might feel less resentful about it.

When we sold our flat we had to pay about £300 to our landlord/managing agent for them to answer buyer's questions about the freehold/repairs expected etc. I queried this with our lawyer but she said it was absolutely standard for the flat seller to pay these costs Sad.

What minipie said, we are selling our flat and have also had to pay the managing agent to prodce the management pack. Sorry that's not what you wanted to hear!

Bah, oh well. I'd rather keep the money myself for sweets, obviously, but I mind less about it if it's normal, rather than him being cheeky about it.
