What's gone wrong with my Farrow and Ball choice - Hay??

I've decorated our 17C beamed winky-wonky sitting room using Hay from F&B and contrasted that with Off-White for the beams. It's lovely in the daylight but in evening, electric light turns it into a really harsh lime green tinged, hard-on-the-eyes disappointment. I wonder if it might calm down with better lighting - we have wall lights with cream candleshades on them. Does anyoe have any thoughts? I don't really want to spend £35 on a new colour. SOmeone suggested plain white shades might improve things.....

What sort of bulbs do you have?

Energy savers, mostly - bit of a random selection to be honest. Any suggestions?

In that case I reckon it's worth changing to different bulbs if possible (dunno if you can still get the old type). I find the energy saving ones almost always give a very odd, orangey light which makes everything look greener than it ought to.

I hate them, they really do clash with certain colours.

Paint sounds really nice. Smile You could try using different coloured shades to compensate but it might not work.

Try different bulbs and see how you get on.

Good advise - thanks Jane. You're right, the energy savers can be a little harsh. I'll experiment.

Thanks again.

I had the green tint problem (not surprising as had green wallpaper). I changed the art farty coloured ceiling lamp to plain white paper shade and things much improved. Also had a normal non energy saving bulb clear, helped a lot.
I'm afraid to say I also changed all the elegant off (historical white)white paint work in our hall to brilliant white and that was soo much better as an antidote to the "dirty" colours of the wallpaper. Unless a room is very sunny, all these dirty colours can look very dingy. That's after starting with a F & B palette throughout our house. I've now decided everything needs to be much fresher.
