Yes ( ex karndean owner). I now have a stone floor in the kitchen

careergirl · 29/10/2011 10:02

hmc, how did you find pulling up the karndean to re lay the floor? Was it hard work?

hmc · 29/10/2011 22:39

I couldn't tell you career girl - I left that to the builders! Don't think it was overly complicated though

timidviper · 29/10/2011 22:42

I thought Amtico/Karndean type things were supposed to be ace. Why didn't you like yours hmc?

I was thinking of this for my kitchen as I find the tiles in the bathroom terribly cold underfoot. Please tell me quickly if I am about to make a terrible mistake

noddyholder · 30/10/2011 09:09

Agree with hmc any fake floors look awful and I used it in a flat that wasn,t allowed wood or tiles for noise. It was horrible tacky looking up close. Better to have wood or ceramics with underfloor heating

narmada · 30/10/2011 11:01

When considering the cost of Karndean (or any flooring TBH) do factor in the cost of fitting - with Karndean it's quite a lot as the floor often needs to be treated with self-levelling compound and then professionally fitted. Mightn't work out any cheaper than engineered wood or ceramic tiles (but surely there is a risk of the latter breaking in a kitchen area as things will get dropped on them?)

Clayhead · 30/10/2011 11:04

Horrible stuff.

Had all of ours ripped up and tiles put down.

A very expensive mistake.

dreamfeeder · 30/10/2011 11:18

I love my karndean floor!!! just had it laid, less cold and noisy than tiles

Yankeecandlequeen · 31/10/2011 10:01

I'd love to have Karndean flooring in my livingroom/diner but I've also considered to cost & its over £1000 for fitting/self leveling etc. Considering I have the whole house to do I'll have to put down laminate which runs right through from the lounge tot he bedrooms/hallwyas etc (its a cottage).

GiganticusBottomus · 31/10/2011 10:09

Oh I love mine. Have it in two (small) bathrooms and it is great. Not too cold underfoot like tiles, easy to wipe up water spillages. It looks lovely and is wearing well. I haven't seen in used in large spaces though.

Yankeecandlequeen · 31/10/2011 10:14

They have Karndean in my local gym & that's where I've seen it. Looks lovely! I'd like to have it down as the livingroom is the main room of the house with high traffic to the bedrooms. I wa hoping to lay it there & cheaper laminate to the bedrooms but I'll have to ge the experts out next week to get a quote.

CMOTdibbler · 31/10/2011 16:55

I love mine. and it doesn't look tacky at all. Much quieter and warmer than the engineered wood we had in previous house

RachelHRD · 31/10/2011 21:54

Echo PP's - I have Karndean throughout downstairs and in the bathrooms and it looks great, warm underfoot and very easy to clean.

We have Pitch pine downstairs and in 2 bathrooms and it looks great as it has a wood grain effect. Also have this limestone one in main bathroom which looks lovely.

mercibucket · 31/10/2011 21:56

yes, it is, but that's fine in my book. all the parquet got ruined when the washing machine flooded the house - at least you don't get that with posh lino Smile

campergirls · 31/10/2011 22:00

No, it's vinyl flooring with pretentions. Nowhere near as nice as proper lino
