Having windows fitted tomorrow - how much disruptuion?

We're having 6 windows fitted tomorow (PVC double-glazing) - small uncomplicated windows.

Basically we were expecting it to happen later than this and the company (Small local window firm) called yesterday saying they could fit them today! We've said come Thursday and Friday and will be madly trying to clear space to all the windows tonight.

The most difficult spot is the bedroom as there are 2 windows in a room with a massive bed and a cot!

can anyone tell me how disruptive this kind of thing is? do they pop one window out and the other in?

not that disruptive really. I have had a few replaced and scarcely noticed it.

Yeah its pretty much pop the old one out and pop the new one in, then attach it and seal round it. It can get a bit dusty/gritty though, as the wind will blow through the hole while they are doing it, and there's obviously a bit of loose muck from taking out the old one.

Once when I had one done, they got the measurements the wrong way round, and brought a window with a sill on the side rather than the bottom.
They didn't notice till after they'd taken the old one out so they had to fit that one and we had a window with a sill at the side for a month while they made another one the right way round Grin

Grin at the wrong measurements!

Forgot to say we are having wooden ones taken out and Upvc ones put in. Is it still just as easy?

Can they work round a bit of furniture if we pull it to one side?

We had wodden frames taken out a pvc put in, big window and door with 2 smaller windows, took 2-3hrs but even with 2 preschoolers at home no problem, and one room isa store room at the moment so all we could do was stack the boxes to one side a bit and it was fine

We had the whole house done once and they did it in a day.
3x6ft and 7x4ft and 3x3ft.
They worked around us and only came inside to finish off, most of it was done from the outside.
If they had not been a council outfit then it would of took them 2 days but they weren't bothered with nicities like making sure the left no gaps

Hi
I'm reviving this because I want to know how much damage is caused around the window. We're renovating a bathroom and the window frame touches the ceiling. Wooden frame to be removed and new one to be put in.
Can I paint the ceiling before the window is replaced or will my work be damaged when the window is replaced?

(I'd rather not wait because I have time now).

Some plaster is likely to come off sso you will need to touch any painting up I would imagine
