Can you change everything about a kitchen except the worktop?

We'd want to replace the cupboards, floor tiles, oven, and wall tiles behind the oven, but keep the (very nice) worktop, in a house we're thinking of offering on. The kitchen is new and in very good nick, just not really our taste and the oven isn't big enough. There's a gas hob on the worktop too, which isn't big enough, but we'd probably get a range with a hob on top of it so not sure how much of a problem that would be.

Is that possible? Or will the worktop be ruined by refitting the kitchen?

In theory you can remove the worktop then refit it on top of the new cupboards. However, if it has a joint then you may have to split it and reform the joint. You also need to be very careful when removing it to avoid chipping the edges. I would wrap the edges with cardboard and tape to protect them.

Oh good, so it is possible? We'll be getting our builder friend to do it for us so he'll be able to do all the joining and removing. That's great, thank you!

Most kitchen ranges (standard UK ones anyway) have interchangeable carcases so you might be able to just do new doors and trims.

Are you keeping the sink, that's the main thing that affects the worktop?

thanks for the link. Good thought about the sink, hadn't thought of that. It's a bit small and probably wouldn't choose it tbh but keeping it wouldn't be an issue, it's perfectly fine.
