Dehumidifier advice please

I bought a house this year with a single garage which woulnt house a Smart car ! So I have put in shelving and am using it as storage for books, shoes and general stuff.

This garage is directly off the utility room and attached to the house but I am concerned about damp now winter is approaching.

I was thinking a dehumidifier would solve this problem , am I right ?

If so any recommendations for me , strangely Which ? dont test them.

Dehumidifiers are great; we moved 3 months ago into a house which had been unoccupied for some time and was damp. I bought a new Delonghi DEM10 from Ebay for £45 and it is fantastic and doesn't use much electric either (I have an EON electric monitor )

Every morning until recently it had almost a full tank of water, less now as house is drying out. Also makes the house smell nicer and is great for drying clothes!

We have a Mitsubishi dehum, and it is brilliant. In a garage you will need to keep an eye on the temperature, and try and seal the door so that you aren't getting cold wet air in

Seriously though, we bought a Prem-I-Air dessicant one and they have a good range of dehumidifiers for different purposes: www.prem-i-air.com/product/index.php?cid=36 and we found it very useful for our son whose bedroom was subterranean.

It was fairly quiet, and meant to be fairly energy-efficient. And also it blew out some hot air as it extracted water so it made the room warmer too.
