Please help me with F&B front door colour

I could really do with some help before I bankrupt myself on Farrow & Ball testers. The render on my house is painted F&B Light Grey (but actually looks quite browny/khaki). There is a photo of the colour in situ on my profile page (it's of my garage, but is the only photo I have to hand at the mo).

I need a colour for my front door. My shortlist is currently

vert de terre
calluna or brassica
lichen
light blue
elephant's breath
dovetail

Does anyone have and advice on these colours, and how they might look, or any other suggestions. I think I must cut my shortlist down to 3 before visiting the shop for tester pots...

I like brassica. But I prefer bold colours on front doors (i'm painting mine in Charlotte's Locks).

Well i've just dug out the F&B colour chart and the colour of Brassica on there looks so different from on the website (looks darker on the website much more purple on colour chart) so it will be interesting to see the true colour.

Our house is painted. So we are having All White on the walls and Charlotte's Locks on the front door with a big silver knocker. Poss a bit of dark grey trim.

my neighbour used brassica. it looks great, but came up much lighter than expected even though she used the proper undercoat. i like it, but it was a bit of a surprise.

ps i have calluna in my bedroom, it is very light - personally i think it would show marks very easily.

They are lovely colours on your list, but for a front door with the colour you have chosen for your render I would go for Cook's Blue or Pitch Blue. Something a little bolder. Sorry, probably no help at all! I enjoyed looking at the colours though!

microserf, does the brassica really shout "purple" or is it more subtle? I wouldn't have a problem with it going on a bit lighter than expected, as I feel it looks a bit strong on the paint card (ideally I'd go for a tone in between calluna - which I agree in hindsight would be daft on a front door - and brassica). I'm starting to favour dove tale, which people say goes on much more lilac-y than you'd guess from the colour chart. That would be my 'drab' option, brassica the more bold option.

Elephant's breath is now out of the running as it is too close to the render colour.

Doozie, my DH hates blue, so those colours wouldn't be allowed. But I do think Cook's Blue is a really nice shade for a 50's house (which ours is).

Lulu - that combination is going to look so smart!
