Okay, cream units and black worktops (my choice) or black units and cream worktops (DH's)? The former is the safe, sensible option, but the latter looks more edgey and I rather like it Grin

That is all.

Citrine would look great as an accent colour - a little deeper than lime, it's a thing of beauty. Also try diresco quartz and Caesar stone. Mid grey lino sounds good but don't get a flat colour - it shows up every hair, every crumb...and it will always need your attention .

BridgetMoans · 15/06/2011 21:09

For the grey lino I was thinking 'stone' or 'slate' effect. DH suggested 'wood' effect. It would need to be bloody good lino to recreate the look of real wood. Can't have a lovely kitchen with a crappy looking floor!

How about a Dalsouple rubber floor? And Caesarstone is good stuff too.....

BridgetMoans · 16/06/2011 21:37

Thankyou orangina, the nearest supplier for caesarstone is 30 miles away! I'm happy to go with the silestone though, I've seen it in numerous showrooms, and the pics you linked the other day helped me decide to go for white worktops Smile
What the hell - have a Blue Peter badge Grin
Any other general tips? I know what I like when I see it but have no style or original taste at all!

Oh thank you!

What are you going to do about your sink? Undermounted stainless steel looks good w silestone (then you need to get quotation for drainage grooves within silestone worktop......)

BridgetMoans · 17/06/2011 20:30

Yes, undermounted s/steel but a good one (Blanco), our cheap one has gone dull and never looks clean. A bowl and a half again - need the half - and yes grooves.

One salesman advised against having a strip of worktop between the two bowls because it would be weak, because of it's width (or lack of). ?

Also, I want an insinkerator hot water tap. DH isn't keen, thinks they're a trend that won't last. But everyone we've had round to quote have either had one or would like one.

And lastly....splashbacks. Matching silestone or glass?
TIA

Matching silestone. Definitely.
