do they really get the room warm?

I guess i'm a bit sceptical because heat rises and i just wondering if they only heat the ceiling?

i like this one and it kicks out loads of heat apparently.

We've got one similar to that in our kitchen, it works really well and keeps the room warm. Have another flattish one in living room which gets really warm. Hope that helps!

ChasingSquirrels · 21/05/2011 21:43

I have got one in the playroom (11ft sq) and 2 in the lounge (17ftx12ft) and they work really well - no problems with keeping the rooms warm.

PacificDogwood · 21/05/2011 21:46

Yep, we've go 2, not as fance as the one you linked to, but vertical nonetheless.

They look great and do the job. If you go by BTU and size of room you should be able to get it right. High ceilings need to be taken into account as well.

This kind of thing, but 3 columns

katz · 21/05/2011 21:47

thanks - it will be in our through lounge dinner, the btu claims it would be enough on its own but i'm thinking of putting a second more traditional radiator in the living room bit.

Do you have this particular radiator or could you link to the ones you have?

thanks, have a start date for our extension and realise i now need to source what we need in the room!

katz · 21/05/2011 21:49

our room will be 24ft x 12ft with average height ceilings, the btu needed is around 11,000.

i like this one too lot cheaper too!

I have these Kolon from Ultraheat

katz · 21/05/2011 22:10

chasing - i like those and they come in both horizontal and vertical which is the combo we would need - thanks shall book mark them!

We've got 2 next to each other in the kitchen and they work really well. Also, dare I say it, genius for drying your duvet on in mega quick time in the winter!

katz · 21/05/2011 22:16

I'm thinking a vertical one in the dining room section and the kitchen and horizontal one behind some funky chairs in the living. Really like the ones chasing squirrels linked too and can get all 3 of those for less than the one i linked to above.

it good to know you get warm rooms and not ceilings.

there were others I liked more - but the one I liked best were £600 each and those were £100 - which when you are buying 4 is a big difference.
My lounge ones are either side of the patio door on the 12ft wall (of the 12ftx17ft wall) and seem to heat the space really well - they are 1800 x 215 doubles I think

ChasingSquirrels · 21/05/2011 22:20

they are a lot less btu than the one you linked to though I think.

Isthreetoomany · 21/05/2011 23:45

we have 2 of these in our living room and they are great and throw out loads of heat

ChasingSquirrels · 22/05/2011 09:33

the one linked to by the last poster is another that I considered. v nice

katz · 22/05/2011 10:17

like those too! oh decisions! Whilst i really like the one i've linked to above the cheaper ones make more sense.

Its good to hear that vertical radiators still heat the space well, just need to check we can have them where i'd like them to be.

Do you have the chrome/silver ones rather than white, do they fair ok on the finger print front. My current white regular radiators have loads of marks on them which wont come off.

OP posts:
ChasingSquirrels · 22/05/2011 13:16

I went for white, partly because I thought the chrome ones would show finger marks more, although the brushed metal ones look really good. Also, I think the white ones just blend into the back ground more, and I didn't want them as a feature - I had them because I was limited on usable wall space and didn't want to lose a wall to a radiator. With the one I have they are just either side of the patio door patio door in space that would otherwise be dead, and in the playroom they are next to the window, leaving the whole space under the window free should I wish to put a sofa, or storage unit or whatever there.

katz · 22/05/2011 14:09

thats what i want wall space freed up to use for storage

this link is useful for finding the correct size and output of radiator you need.

Just marking my place.

frangx · 24/05/2011 14:43

We've also got some similar to that in our lounge, and a stainless steel one in our kitchen it heats very well throughout our home. We bought all of our fancy radiators from a company called Chic, they gave us extra discount too because we bought a few, great choice and free delivery, you should give them a try! :)
