Does anyone have any clue how I can find out how much my property sold for in 1991? I know it was sold, I know the date and I even know the solicitor and estate agent who dealt with it but I just keep hitting a brick wall when it comes to the actual sale price. The estate agents records don't go back that far, the solicitor may or may not have some ancient records in a dusty vault but has no time to look. Tried several websites but the earliest I can find only goes back to 1996. The Land Registry website doesn't even go back that far. I need the info to support my council tax rebate request. Apparently, the fact that my property was actually sold in 1991 is strong supporting evidence. I know that the 1991 sale price will drop me to well within the band below my current one but I can't flipping find concrete evidence anywhere! TIA.

www.zoopla.com -- go to sold prices and put the settings to all years.

IIRC there's a link through moneysavingexpert.com to find out council tax valuation costs

Ah yes I see -- only back to 1995.

Well you can get in touch with the Land Registry and pay for a copy of the TR1 form which I think records the consideration (price).

MadreIngelese - moneysavingexpert has a calculator to estimate the valuation cost but I've been told it's a real bonus that I have an actual sale as proof.

Swedes2 - Land Registry doesn't seem to provide info before 2000. I guess I could try calling them but I was trying to find a faster way to access the information really as I need to put my "case" together pretty quickly.
